Patron: I bet you know everything.
Martin: That’s not even close to true.
Patron: Because if you did you’d have known I was going to say that?
Martin: ...and I’d probably be hiding in the back right now.
Patron: But you still know a lot, right? Did you know we were about to have this exact conversation?
Martin: After your opening, I could have made an uncanny prediction.
Patron: What question can I ask that you won’t know I’m going to ask you?
Martin: I think you just asked it.
Martin: That’s not even close to true.
Patron: Because if you did you’d have known I was going to say that?
Martin: ...and I’d probably be hiding in the back right now.
Patron: But you still know a lot, right? Did you know we were about to have this exact conversation?

“Does the library have a copy of every book that’s ever been published?”
*facepalm*
Or one of my favorites, “Do you have a copy of ?”
(Typical answer: “Yes, but the line to check it out is 200 patrons long….”)
Wow, that didn’t turn out like I expected. That should be “a copy of ‘really big bestseller that we’d be foolish NOT to have a copy of’?”
I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little, and if I choose my conversations carefully, I can give the impression that I know everything about everything, but that is not really the case.
