Jody: You have a book checked out that’s overdue.
Patron: Is the book late? Or am I late?

Jody: The book is late.
Patron: Then why are you talking to me about it?

Jody: Because you’re responsible for the book.
Patron: Listen, lady, I’m just trying to finish reading it.

Jody: Would you like me to renew it for you so you can avoid more fines or do you want to keep trying to provoke an argument?
Patron: Option one please.
