I agree with the patron on this one. Just show me where the copier is. Handwriting hurts my hand if I do it too much and leaves room for too many errors. Even the ancient scribes, who were probably some of the most accurate human copiers ever, were known to accidentally not copy whole lines.
Of course copying damages the book as invariably the person will press down on it, to get the page as flat as possible, breaking the spine, possibly detaching large sections of the book and ripping pages.
