It’s supposed to be funny, not necessarily totally realistic, and funny it is! It’s crazy scenarios like this that make _Library Comic_ something I look forward to looking at every Monday through Friday. You have to be inventive when you do a daily comic strip with no time off (except weekends like many of us), and I think Gene and Chris do a great job!
You’re mentioning TSA, however, suggests a possibly intriguing sequel or an idea for another future strip (no pun intended!), but that’s not my department.

Good thing they will not be going through customs or that could raise some red flags. The TSA people still might get curious about this arrangement.
