Martin: Do you enjoy being lied to?

Patron: No.
Martin: I don’t either.

Patron: But he didn’t say it to me. He said it to a reporter.
Martin: Don’t reporters represent all of us?

Patron: Sometimes. I mean, yeah, when I agree with what they write.

    Yes, the media do represent us–especially when people in power feel they do not need to explain themselves! And right now that seems to be happening a lot.

  3. Technically, the mayor represents “all of us” (citizens of their city). Reporters represent the business interests of their employer.
