I used to know the Dewey system and then I worked at a library which was Library of Congress.. and now my brain only sees LC
But for simple re-shelving, “just numbers” is all you need to locate the right spot! After looking up a classification, that directs to the appropriate shelves if you just want to browse a category. The nuances of assigning a sequence to a new book are handled by an expert in a back room :}

Markham Public Library uses their own four digit system (I helped to convert the materials over from Dewey). It doesn’t make any more sense, really.
