At a conference in Texas last week, I was told about an elementary school library that actually does this as an annual event.

One of my library school classmates used this analogy in our intro reference class. He said, “There are two models of reference service. One is the Greek Orthodox model, where they go behind the screen and do whatever they do; and the other is the restaurant model: ‘Hello, my name is Joseph and I’ll be your reference librarian today.'”
