Actually, this approaches the truth, from a VERY skewed perspective, while still missing.

Flu vaccines are made by cultivating the influenza virus, (which ones are most likely needed are predicted months in advance, like the weather, and this prediction is about as reliable), in fertilized chicken eggs, which are incubated then processed to make the vaccine from the resulting viral bloom within the chicken embryos. It takes a long time to produce the vaccine, by which time which variant of the flu is about to hit a given continent in force may have changed, resulting in its famous poor reliability. They also combine several, half a dozen if memory serves, to give them a better shot of having picked the right one, those many months earlier.

But, there IS, last I heard, (over a decade ago, probably closer to two or three), an EXPERIMENTAL method that involves cultured, immortal, cells from a dog. It’s supposed to be faster and less resource intensive.

This is also why people with egg allergies are told not to take the normal vaccine.
