I don’t understand what is happening in this comic. Can someone explain it?
People are bringing various gross things to the reference desk for identification.
Why are they bringing those things to the reference desk? Where are they getting them from?
Probably elsewhere in the library (at least if my personal experience working the ref desk is any guide).
I would just get as far away from such items as possible and report them at the circ desk…and let the PICOGT (person in charge of gross things), deal with it. When I was a librarian, handling GTs was above my pay scale. In my 30+ years on the job(s), I stopped having to work the refdesk after the first 5 yrs. and switched to strictly working office hours and being contacted by phone, e-mail, drop-by patrons, or even snail mail. Lucky me, I guess.
