WHAT the @#$%^&*! Let’s talk about gatekeeping and white supremacy culture norms (only one right way, either/or thinking, power hoarding, etc.). So a mom with a 2 yr old and a “correct age for the program) yr old are ALL going to be denied participation in a story time?! Who does that serve?
In the actual situation, the class was for children ages 3-5. The older child was 6 or 7. If EITHER of them was the correct age, they BOTH would have been able to go into the class. We always allow siblings.
That makes total sense–it just didn’t come across like that in the comic. But this idea-“A “correct” age to get something from the program”-is what I meant by gatekeeping. If the child becomes disruptive, deal with that, but no need to be so prescriptive for a storytime, is there?!

Race has nothing to do with it. People, need to quit insisting everything is a race issue.
A “correct” age to get something from the program, and not disrupt the other attendees.
Mom can just take the stroller for a little walk, or find someone elsewhere to talk to. Everyone learns a bit about consideration and cooperation.

Great policy! And thanks for the clarification.
