Felt that way about a couple series. One drifted so far from the original premise (Anita Blake, urban magic to limited plot harlequin) that it just was not in my interest sphere anymore. Even gave away the ones I had collected so would not tempted to start a re-read that would then be given up at style change.
ditto on Anita Blake. I about book 10. I re-read them but aren’t tempted to keep going.
I had the same experience with the Anita Blake books.
