Stephanie: Then do it.

Gigi: He doesn’t have any money.
Stephanie: Then don't worry about it.

Gigi: And he has a really good excuse.
Stephanie: Then waive his fine.

Gigi: Who will fill the hole in the collection?
Stephanie: Have you seen how many books we have? Nobody will notice.

    In our library, we actually have a specific policy for this kind of situation! If a patron thinks they shouldn’t be charged a replacement fee, and the fee is under $50, we can give them the benefit of the doubt and waive the fee up to 5 times; after that, we stop being able to waive fees for them.
