Esther: You don’t want that book.
Teen: I do.

Esther: It sounds pretty gross.

Teen: That’s why I picked it!

Lucy: I thought you were weeding the teen section.
Esther: I’m trying, but they keep taking the books I want to get rid of!

    Is Unshelved finished?

  2. Margaret says:

I like it! Thanks for putting the names of the characters below for our information. I’m looking forward to meeting all of them.

    1. Chris says:

Thanks! There’s a bunch more to come!

    2. LauraRose says:

Ha! I didn’t see that. Now I have to go reread all of them. Luckily there are only a few so far.

      1. LauraRose says:

I’m replying to myself after re-reading:
There’s a Laura and she wears funny hats and has purply hair. I am So Excited!

  3. CarlK says:

I love the new characters, and I really love the new, larger format. Much easier on my aging eyes.

    1. Chris says:

      Thanks 🙂

  4. Cheryl Keane says:

Enjoying the new strip. Agree with the other comments re larger format and character names at the bottom.

  5. Ida says:

Why is the YA librarian a cross looking woman in a dowdy dress????

  6. Sue Lester says:

I don’t think Esther works in Youth Services. At our library, someone from Collection Services does the weeding.

    1. Beth Daly says:

At our library, Librarians are also ‘Selectors’. Each has a section of the collection to maintain: planning, buying, weeding, dealing with purchase requests. It’s supposed to make sure the people maintaining the collection also meet with patrons and stay in touch with the real world.

  7. Tia Jah says:

Love the new strip! Good luck with it!

  8. Eva says:

I personally love Esther. I’m sure she was a tech servs librarian in the past, but when it got automated, they moved her to a new position that was created or became available: YA librarian! I’ve seen cataloguers become reference librarians in my academic library for this very reason (the cutting back of technical services) – not the best situation, but necessary.

    1. Eve says:

Hey! I’m a tech services librarian and I am neither cross nor likely to wear a dowdy dress!

  9. ReaderJoy says:

I’m loving the new strip. Fun, similar enough with Unshelved that it feels like home already.

    1. Chris says:

      Thanks 🙂
