Patron: You need to book your study rooms in a way that’s fair.
Jody: What’s wrong with first come, first serve?
Patron: I’ve lined up at your door. I’ve called when you open. I’ve begged. I’ve pleaded. I never get a room.
Jody: I’m sorry our system isn’t working for you.
Patron: Ah-ha! An admission of guilt!
Jody: That was an expression of sympathy.
Patron: Who do I talk to about a better way of doing things? These are the five best options..
Jody: And this is an expression of resignation.
Jody: What’s wrong with first come, first serve?

Shouldn’t that be “first come, first served?”
Technically, yes, but “first come, first serve” has enough traction to be listed as an acceptable alternative in the dictionary (Merriam-Webster).
